Susan Barnes

I received my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University in California, and my Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the State of Idaho. I am an EMDRIA Certified Therapist in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and I am also trained in the use of Art Therapy as an additional therapeutic tool. ​I approach my work through a trauma informed lens, and I provide psychotherapy, clinical supervision, and/or coaching services to my clients as well as art therapy groups.

I have over 20 years of clinical experience addressing a wide variety of mental health challenges including stress, depression, trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, and family relationships. I take my work very seriously, and consider it a privilege and a pleasure to work with every client who comes through my door. Those who have worked with me know that I find inspiration in nature, love to laugh, and use metaphors way too often. One of my favorite metaphors is that each of us is an orchestra, but an orchestra without a conductor can just be noise. We need to become conductors of ourselves, and our own personal symphony will follow. My goal is to guide you in the process of becoming your own conductor and creating your own beautiful and unique symphony.
